At our international preschool, we focus on holistic child development, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow emotionally, physically, and socially. One of the special programs we offer is Weronika Sherborne Developmental Movement classes, led by our dedicated and experienced teacher. These sessions provide children with an engaging way to explore movement, build confidence, and develop stronger relationships with their peers.

What is the Weronika Sherborne Method?
The Weronika Sherborne Developmental Movement Method is a physical movement approach designed to support children in developing body awareness, coordination, and social interaction skills. It was created by Weronika Sherborne, a British physiotherapist and educator, based on the belief that through movement and play, children gain a deeper understanding of their own bodies, learn how to relate to others, and develop trust and cooperation.

Why Are These Classes Important?
✔ Improve Body Awareness – Help children understand their own movements and how they interact with their surroundings.
✔ Encourage Social Interaction – Through partner and group activities, children learn cooperation, communication, and teamwork.
✔ Builds Confidence & Emotional Security – Children develop trust in themselves and others, which boosts self-esteem.
✔ Supports Coordination, Physical & Motor Skills – Activities enhance strength, flexibility, and balance in a fun, engaging way.

Core Elements of Sherborne Movement
The method is based on four key movement experiences that help children develop essential life skills:
- Awareness of Self – Activities that help children explore their own movement, body control, and spatial awareness
- Awareness of Others – Partner and group activities that encourage interaction, trust, and cooperation.
- Relationships with Others – Playful movement games that develop communication, teamwork, and social bonds.
- Exploring the Environment – Encouraging curiosity and confidence in navigating space through rolling, crawling, balancing, and climbing.
Who Can Benefit from the Sherborne Method?
This method is beneficial for all children, but it is particularly helpful for:
– Young children developing motor skills.
– Children who need support with social interaction and confidence.
– Kids with sensory processing challenges.
– Children with special educational needs (SEN) who benefit from structured movement experiences.

What Happens During Sherborne Classes?
Our teacher leads the children through a series of dynamic, movement-based activities that help them develop physically and socially. Some examples include:
- Rolling, stretching, and balancing exercises to build body control.
- Partner and group movement games to encourage teamwork and trust.
- Creative movement and free exploration to develop confidence and expression.
- Gentle physical interactions (like mirroring or leading a partner) to strengthen non-verbal communication.
These activities do not require special equipment—the most important tool is the child’s own body and interaction with others! The goal is not competition or skill mastery but experiencing movement as a way to connect, grow, and feel secure.
Growing Through Movement
The Weronika Sherborne method is more than just physical activity—it’s a holistic approach that nurtures a child’s sense of self, relationships, and confidence. Through movement, children learn, explore, and grow, making each session a valuable part of their development.
